Rosencrantz & Gildenstern are Dead

Greetings Cadets!

It’s one of the busiest weekends of the year, and we’re happy to hang with you here at Free Space. I hope you’re warm wherever you are. Free Space HQ has been hard at work digesting some recent interviews. We should have a new episode of the podcast with some special guests!

We want to thank everyone for the support lately as we’ve seen a lot of growth on social media. Sharing this newsletter, the clips and the podcast episodes is so appreciated in this time where people have a hard time finding shows and writing that they enjoy.

Free Space is here to find you something great to watch on a budget, so the current holiday weekend is a great time to find some programming that won’t hurt your wallet! Take a look at a recent interview or two from some big names:

New Interviews + Podcasts!

SKIT is out on Tubi! This delightful little comedy takes us right back to the mid-2000s and what the YouTube high-point really felt like! Jamie Linn Watson and Jamie Shapiro were kind enough to share their stories with us.

(Watson, Sherlock, we salute you!)

Over on Apple TV, Loot Season 3 is here and we talked to Michaela Jae Rodriguez and Ron Funches about the funny times on set with Maya Rudolph!

Our friends BJ and Harmony Colangelo host This Ends At Prom, a podcast about movies that might get overlooked because they’re “for girls!” And, I had the honor of guesting last week. We talked about Seventeen Again, and it was absolutely delightful

Seventeen Again (2000) w/ Aaron Perine — Pod People Productions
“I am gonna do what I wanna do! And you know what? I don’t need your permission to do it!” What if your grandparents magically turned back into teenagers, and they were so hot that it caused chaos in your high school? And what if you look exactly like your grandma did at your age, so this

Free Movies + TV Picks!

Rosencrantz & Guildenstern are Dead (1990) - Free on Tubi, Pluto TV, Plex

Gary Oldman & Tim Roth are having an amazing time scampering around the edges of Hamlet. (Hey, that’s a hot topic this weekend, Hamnet is amazing from what I hear!) But, Tom Stoppard’s amazing contribution to mediums both visual and on the stage is worth a look. Especially for free! (RIP to the playright as he passed away today at 80.)

Big Mood (2024) - Streaming on Tubi

It's very simple, you put Nicola Coughlan in a TV show, and I watch. She's teamed with Lydia West this time for a delightful comedy drama. Maggie and Eddie are friends that you’ll immediately recognize. You know, inseparable and basically holding each other together. But, what happens when pesky real life tries to intervene?

Mr. Polaroid! - Streaming on PBS Passport!

PBS Passport has been getting a lot of love from around the web here lately. That’s very nice to see. Treat yourself to this American Experience episode about the origins of the Polaroid. I am a sucker for documentaries like this. I’m completely guilty in that regard.

Harvard dropout Edwin Land wanted to make a camera that would be a common part of life. That totally happened for a while and the story behind this retro favorite is well worth an hour or so on PBS! Have a look at the trailer down below:
